Flyin High

So, Jason's birthday was March 30th... and if you're wondering why you didn't know, it's because he wouldn't let me tell anyone. SOOOO... if you knew Jason turned 26, consider yourself lucky. His mom cooked him a great birthday dinner (which saved me the trouble-and Jason the trouble of eating my cooking) and then we just hung out. I wanted to do a big party or something, but we had some of our closest friends over for a BBQ and that ended up being a fun way for him to celebrate, so it was great.

Anyway... I think that one of the hardest things about being married is finding a perfect gift for someone that you love and appreciate so much a million times every year. Christmas in December, our Anniversary in January, Valentine's day in February and Jason's birthday in March pretty much kill me. SERIOUSLY!! So... this year I was freaking out because Jason never really wants (or supposedly needs) anything.

Anyway, prayer works (obviously) because I prayed like mad about what I could get him and FINALLY thought of something that just might work... and, it did. I surprised him with a "Discovery Flight" in an airplane. J's always talked about how he and his dad would love to buy a hovercraft or that he'd maybe like to get his pilot's license one day and SO... for his birthday he got to fly an airplane all by himself... well... kind of... he at least got to fly with me in the backseat and an instructor by his side (who didn't touch the peddles or steering wheel-is that what it's called?) AT ALL except during taking off and landing.

Luckily, we scheduled the flight on a beautiful day and everything was perfect. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. We flew over Aggie Village, the USU stadium, USU's campus, the temple, etc... Logan looked BEAUTIFUL from way up in the sky!

I was SO IMPRESSED with Jason's flying ability because let me tell you, I was NOT so sure about flying with him. The only reason I went was so that I could take pictures of him. He did such a great job and was so calm! Even when the pilot turned off the plane engine in the middle of the air (WHAT?!) Jason seemed to enjoy the ride... although at that point I definitely WAS NOT! :) Luckily, we made it back safe and sound and I think we both had a lot of fun. I LOVE going on adventures with Jason and I was glad that he let me come along.
I'd be his co-pilot any day.

How clever are you?! What an AWESOME present!! I love all of the pictures you got; that is so cool you guys got to do that. I didn't know you could...hmm, good idea for a future present maybe for Shane!:) Oh and Shane's really funny about his birthday too...he never wants me making a big deal out of it and feels awkward accepting gifts. What funny boys.
