Snips and snails and puppy dog tails...

Let’s just be honest… the majority of us… yes… even me, thought secretly that I was having a girl.
Well...

surprise!!!
IT’S A BOY!!!!

What the?!! Yeah… that’s what we thought when we saw the ultrasound. I think Jason was more shocked than I was because obviously I’d been trying to prepare myself either way. We kind of just kept looking at each other and smiling. The ultrasound was absolutely incredible and we are SOOOO excited to be having a boy. We got to see all of his tiny fingers and toes and got some darling profile pics that already look so real. I can’t wait till I can really hold him now!

These last few weeks I have just been noticing all of the cute little boys around me and realizing how amazing it would be to have a boy first. There are the obvious things like having the oldest boy to look after the other kids and being the big brother- but on top of all of that I am just thinking that a boy is the best blessing we could have right now. I’m obviously pretty emotional- so hopefully him and Jason can balance me out a little- and Jason will have someone to sympathize for him when I’m just being me.  If I had a girl everything would be pink and then we’d have to buy all of the baby stuff all over again later- that could get expensive- I’m excited to actually have a reason now to start with the neutral stuff.

The hardest part for sure will be coming up with a name- but I think it would be the same with a girl- it’s so different when you’re actually naming a real baby.

I’ve already gone shopping and starting buying clothes- so that’s not going to be a problem :) .

The only other thing I’m worried about is not being tough enough for a boy. I know how to do hair so I had plenty of things dreamed up already to do with my girls… but I’m kinda not wanting to make my boy a pansy. What do I know about snips or snails or puppy dog tails? Other than how to paint snails with fingernail polish to make them look pretty... nothing.  Maybe he’ll just end up making me more tough. :) Hopefully.

I keep thinking about that book “I’ll Love You Forever” where the boy drives across town to rock his mom back and forth when she’s an old lady and I just want to cry. I hope I can be a good enough mom that my little boy loves me like that. (And if you haven’t read the book, that of course would sound weird to you- so read it).

Anyway, I am excited to teach a little boy now and watch him grow and I can’t wait for all of the adventures that I’m sure he’ll bring.

I am so thankful to have a husband that our little boy can look up to and I would be THRILLED if he grew up to be just like Jason. He’s the perfect husband and friend and I know he’s going to be an incredible dad.

Here are a few more of the pictures of our cute little boy... or cool... or whatever I'm supposed to say... my boys in Kindergarten get mad if I call them cute... but I still say it :) and I promise to add a pic of me soon when I actually get around to asking Jason to take one.

WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Oh those ultrasound pictures are so precious! Reading this really took me back to when we first found out we were having a boy! I remember I really wanted a girl at first and was kind of scared to know I was actually getting a son--what do I know about boys?!?! But now that he's here, I can't imagine it any other way! My mother-in-law is right, I think, in saying that mothers and sons have special bonds. I am so beyond thrilled for you guys--you're seriously our favorite people in the world! You're going to be WONDERFUL parents!!! And I can't wait to see all the cute things you find for him!

oh yay! a BOY! Oh I'm so excited for you guys. He is going to be so dang cute (yes, I think you can call baby boys cute).

I thought we were for sure having a boy since they are plentiful in our families and when I found out we were having a girl I got so overwhelmed thinking about all of the cute accessories and clothes that I was going to have to buy for her. But now I can't imagine it turning out any other way. It's funny how even if it's not what you're expecting it turns out perfectly.

I love the ultrasound picutres, his little nose is so adorable.

CONGRATS!!! See, I'm nervous about having a girl! I grew up with all brothers so girl babies are weird to me! You'll love having a boy. Everything will come so natural to you, you'll surprise yourself. Don't be scared at all! And just cause you're emotional doesn't mean he'll grow up to be a panzy! haha you are so funny! I'm so happy for you!
